Bollywood may want better luck in the new year. Social activist Anna Hazaare has trumped the glamour industry to become the biggest newsmaker this year.

In a year-in-review conducted by entertainment portal Yahoo! India, Hazare, who mobilised millions of people in his anti-corruption

drive and subsequent fast at Ramlila Maidan this year, emerged as the top newsmaker, followed by cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Bollywood makes an entry only in the third place, with Katrina Kaif.

Industry experts see this as a “welcome change”. Filmmaker Onir Anirban says, “It is a blessing. The fact that Anna Hazare is the biggest newsmaker of 2011 reflects that we Indians are more politically and socially aware. It is great to see that people get politically engaged and less obsessed with Bollywood.”

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt adds, “If people are more curious about social icon Anna Hazare than a Bollywood icon like Katrina Kaif, it shows that India is moving to another sphere.”

Communication consultant Alyque Padamsee says, “Youngsters connect with what Anna stands for. This shows he is a stronger influence than Bollywood.” Bollywood however, made news for the stars’ personal lives, especially star babies. Actor Aishwarya Bachchan, Konkona Sen and Lara Dutta’s pregnancies were hugely followed by users.
Katrina most downloaded
Katrina Kaif may have lost out to an anti-corruption icon and sportsperson in the online world, but the actor stayed ahead of her contemporaries, as the most downloaded female celeb on mobile phones.

In a report by Airtel mobitude 2011, Kat, who was seen in films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan this year, is followed by actors Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez. Among the males, Shah Rukh Khan is the most downloaded. Salman Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Imran Khan are second, third and fourth respectively.

Two straight guys pretending as gays will now have a crush on Bollywood’s most desirable woman - Katrina Kaif. The cute gal has been finalized for the sequel to Dostana which had Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham as two heterosexual men playing homos due to unavoidable circumstances.

Katrina Kaif down with jaundice

Katrina Kaif had to be rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra immediately after landing in the city late Monday night. The actress was in Udaipur for the promotion of De Dana Dan, which releases this week.She had been feeling under the weather for the past few days. Last week, she had fainted while performing at an event.

The constant travelling due to the promotions of her films has taken a toll on the star.Says Katrina’s business manager, “She was taken to the hospital for some tests as she is down with flu and was feeling weak. We decided to get a complete check-up done. She has been advised complete bed rest for the next week or till the fever goes down.

The biggest fear is that the viral fever is contagious and we don’t want the entire cast and crew coughing and sneezing while promoting the film.”

Katrina Kaif not swept away by adulation

Her fans may fawn over her and producers in tinsel town may queue up to sign her for their films, but Katrina Kaif doesn’t let her success go to her head. She prefers to stay grounded in reality.

The super run of Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani at theatres has brought more love and adulation of her fans world over.

“Frankly, I take it all with a pinch of salt. One can never get too carried away in this industry because at the end of the day, it doesn't achieve you anything at all. The best way is to look at the work you are doing and continue to make careful choices,” Katrina is quoted as saying by a news agency.

Now that ‘Ajab Prem’ is a hit, filmmakers in Bollywood would obviously want to cash in on the Ranbir-Kat jodi. Though Katrina is game for another flick with Ranbir Kapoor (she’s already doing Rajneeti with him) but she doesn’t want to compromise when it comes to other yardsticks for her to sign a film.

“Of course, if a good film comes in, I would love to do a film with Ranbir. However, I can't just look at my co-star - I should have an amazing role, the script should be good and so should be the director,” she said.

Lately there have been rumours that Katrina is set to turn producer with the Hindi remake of the popular French movie ‘He Love Me…He Loves Me Not’. But Katrina denies it.

“Well, sounds like an interesting story. However, any talk centred on the production of this film or any other movie for that matter is plain speculation,” Katrina clarified.

As of now, she’s awaiting the release of De Dana Dan with Akshay Kumar this Friday.

Katrina Kaif in trouble for fame

Honeymoon Travels director Reema Kagti, and not Shirish Kunder, is now developing Zoya Factor. The film, produced by Shahrukh Khan’s production company Red Chillies, is an adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name penned by Anuja Chauhan. Says a source, “Differences arose between SRK and Farah Khan’s hubby over the screenplay and script. They had severe creative issues. Both were looking at the script with a different vision.” At this point, SRK decided to change his director.SRK offered the film to Reema as she seemed to understand what he wanted to do with the film. But he forgot to tell Shirish that he was giving the project to someone else to work on.

Shirish found out by accident that the film no longer had his name on it. When Farah heard this, she was hurt and upset at the manner in which her hubby has been ousted. Adds the source, “Shirish had started work on the film and was looking for an actor who would play a cricketer. The film was supposed to go on the floors early next year.”Reema maintains, “I am writing the screenplay of the film, not directing it. Vishal Punjabi is directing Zoya Factor.” Vishal was the visual effects producer for the SRK starrer Paheli which he had also produced. Meanwhile, Shirish says, “I was never supposed to direct Zoya Factor, only Joker.” SRK remained unavailable for comment.What is Zoya Factor?

The security soon swung into action and handled the stalker well. They kicked him off the premises,” the witness added.However when the officials asked the actress if she wished to file a legal complaint, she refused. “She said that she stays alone and doesn`t want any complications. After all, the guy has been arrested before for a similar offence. She chose to let it pass”, adds the source.

She might have been part of comedy hits like ‘Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya’, ‘Welcome’ and ‘Partner’, but it’s for.

The first time that the gorgeous Katrina Kaif will not be just a part of a comic flick, but will also make her audience laugh with her dialogues, acts and expressions.

Katrina, who extremely enjoys the comedy genre, finally got an opportunity to play an out an out comic role in Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani’.

According to director Rajkumar Santoshi, Katrina was surprised when he approached her for this comedy role.

“I have seen her films and that’s why I thought she’s apt for the role I have in mind.

She was surprised and happy when. she came to know that the role is of a complete comic character.

Which she hasn’t played yet in spite of doing comedy films,” said Santoshi. Speaking about her comic timing Santoshi said.

“Katrina will surprise her critics. Her comic timing is amazing. She is very talented and you will see her in my next comedy film too.” He signs off.

Katrina Kaif hankers for fresh compliments

Katrina Kaif is upset. Every director she works with tends to describe her as ‘hardworking’. When we spoke to Rajkumar Santoshi recently he too said the same thing. “Katrina is very hard working. When I worked with her, I understood what made her one of the top actresses in the industry. She puts everything into a movie and adopts the film as her own,” says Santoshi.

When we told the actress these words of praise for her, she did not seem to be happy though. “I will give a prize, a very good prize to any director who can come up with some other things to say about me. Everyone says the same thing. Hardworking! It gets boring. I wish people could use words like ‘inspirational’, ‘ motivational’ or something like that. It would be so much more interesting!” she said.

The news of Katrina Kaif bluntly refusing to wish Aishwarya Bachchan on her birthday has created ripples amongst the public. Some are of the opinion that she should have wished her instead of living in the past and cut open the old wounds. Katrina Kaif caught again!

Just before the release of her film New York, Bollywood’s numero-uno actress, Katrina Kaif had visted the holy ‘dargah’ (shrine) of the revered sufi saint, Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti (Katrina visits Ajmer to bring luck to New York!- June 24). While on that occasion she had worn a blue scarf to hide herself from the media glares as well as her fans, this time it was a yellow one!

As per sources, Katrina was in Ajmer yesterday (Friday) to pray for the success of her friend Salman Khan’s London Dreams and also her upcoming, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. Before proceeding to the shrine, Katrina briefly halted at RTDC’s Khadim Tourist Bungalow in Ajmer and changed her dress. She then left for the ‘dargah’ but despite all the secrecy, she was unable to hide herself from the media and her fans (just like last time!) who got a whiff of her arrival and thronged the shrine, thus blocking the roads to the ‘dargah’.

Katrina Kaif Bullies Ranbir Kapoor

Leaves will never sway unless the wind blows. An actor once said that it’s just a plain lie if a pair says that they share great chemistry on screen and yet not get attracted to each other. If we are to go by this claim, it’s difficult to describe the relationship that Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif share. The chemistry between them is said to be great.

Ranbir and Katrina had great time shooting for Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. They pulled each other’s legs and yet got along very well. Ranbir philosophically said that chemistry is something that the characters share and not between two individuals. He however added that he is happy that the audience like the chemistry they share in the promos.


Katrina has her own take on the term ‘chemistry’. She said that great chemistry is an outcome of people who have the same vision. But giving the relationship a twist, Ranbir revealed that Katrina bullied him while he complimented her.

Giving a hint on the story, Katrina revealed that Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is an ordinary love story about ordinary people leading ordinary lives that is told in a very unusual way. Ranbir added that it is a complete entertainer with lovely story and not just a bunch of jokes.

Katrina Kaif sidelined by Blue makers?

Director Anthony D’Souza had earlier complimented Katrina Kaif as the female Akshay Kumar for her professionalism and punctuality. So, what comes as a surprise is that she has been sidelined by the same people who praised her.It’s common knowledge that Katrina has only a cameo role in Blue but people start expecting more of her following the director’s claim that her seven-minute performance is its USP.

So, what puzzles the people who follow Bollywood closely is that, she has been sidelined as far as publicity is concerned. Katrina Kaif makes Santoshi uncomfortable

Rajkumar Santoshi is heard to be uncomfortable with Katrina Kaif on the sets of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. The director confirms Katrina’s successful career and his series of flops in the past is the reason for his timid behaviour on the sets. Santoshi was quite modest to express his emotions before the media.

He adds, “It becomes very difficult to work with an establish star like Katrina. I would be very reluctant to ask Katrina for a retake.”On the contrary Katrina denies everything and says, “Santoshi is a fantastic director and has a great sense of humour. We had a wonderful time working together on the sets.

Katrina Kaif's wardrobe malfunction Prevented in time

Katrina was saved from embarassement at award function on Sunday when the dress she wore tore up just minutes before she was to go on stage.

Decked up in her favourite red gown, Katrina Kaif was to receive the ‘Woman of the Year’ award and was waiting backstage for her name to be announced. Just then a friend of her’s stepped on her gown and it tore right up to Katrina’s thighs.

Katrina kaif was shocked and she panicked because the clock was ticking for her to appear on stage. She told her friend to get a needle and thread quick to sew up the torn gown. But the friend was so nervous that she sewed up the gown very badly. Showing her presence of mind, Katrina then called on designer Anaita Shroff to help her. Anahita had done Kat’s styling for the event.

Like a true professional, Anaita sewed the torn part of the gown within minutes.

“Anaita asked me to stay calm and within five minutes stitched it up so finely that I couldn't see the tear,” Katrina is quoted as saying.

The dress was mended just in the nick of time. Katrina’s name was announced just after that and the lady walked on the stage to receive the award.

The Barbie doll of Bollywood Katrina Kaif, who has become workaholic during the shoot for her upcoming film.

Rajneeti with Ranbir Kapoor, says it is disgusting to see television channels create hullabaloo and indulge in “match-mixing” to raise TRPs.

Earlier, a TV channel had telecast a video showing the actress reaching out to hug the co-actor Ranbir Kapoor on road.

The clipping was aired with a question as to what her boyfriend Salman Khan would have to say on her public display of closeness.

The furious actress said, “Why would Salman have any problems about a scene from a film? It’s a scene for Rajneeti that was shot on a street of Bhopal.

Unfortunately some cameraman outside our unit also shot and decided to raise the channel’s TRP with one more scandal story.

But it is just ridiculous,” “People could easily see I was dressed for the character. I have nothing to say beyond this but whatever the TV personnel are doing is just not digestive,” added Katrina.

The actress was busy shooting for her upcoming movie in Bhopal where a surplus and sad incident took place.

24-25 years jumped into a lake nearby just for the fact that he was unable to meet his favorite star.

"However, an identity card has been recovered from his pocket which has his name Motilal but there is no address on it.

The reasons for the suicide can't be obtained but the speculations are being made that the youth was star-struck."

said Devendra Patidara, a senior police officer. The incident happened late on Saturday.

Katrina Kaif influenced by Salman Khan

Sexy actress Katrina Kaif recently admitted that she will not work with Vivek Oberoi.

Even though Kat may express and exert her independence while taking her own decisions but it appears otherwise. Recently when Salman Khan declared that he doesn't want girlfriend Katrina to work with Vivek Oberoi she confirmed it by saying, “I would not work with Vivek anyway" as per the reports.
