A lot of people in the industry have been wondering why Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been working so hard lately even as she balances her time
between her two sets of Fact is that Aishwarya is in a hurry to finish up all her pending assignments so that she can keep a part of the year 2010 free for family affairs, and that includes motherhood.
A source close to the couple said, “The two of them are fed up of relatives, strangers and relative strangers asking them when the stork is visiting. Secretly, they feel pressurised. It’s as if their parenthood is a public issue. Even when they are at airports waiting to board flights, over-exuberant ladies rush to them with an inquisitive look on their eager faces. Even before these fans open their mouth, Abhishek knows exactly what the question is, and he gets visibly annoyed. Aishwarya handles such over-inquisitive attention far more graciously.”
Luckily there has been absolutely no peer pressure on Abhishek or Aishwarya about parenthood from either side. Neither the Bachchans nor the Rais are the type who badger their children asking when will they start a family.
But Aishwarya already has a plan, and parenthood probably comes next year when she completes her pending assignments, and that includes a parade of topnotch films including Vipul Shah’s Action Replay, Shankar’s Robot, Mani Ratnam’s Raavana and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish for which Aishwarya starts shooting in Goa in August, followed by Abhinay Deo’s Crooked.
In addition there are filmmakers like Rohan Sippy, Vishal Bharadwaj, Rituparno Ghosh and Ashutosh Gowariker waiting patiently in the queue to sign her.
A source said, “This no doubt is the busiest phase of Aishwarya’s career. Such a flurry of assignments has never been seen before in any married actress’ life and she’d be foolish to let such opportunities slip by. Luckily, Abhishek is thoroughly supportive of her career. She wants to complete as many of these assignments as she can to before she becomes a mother. Because once she gets into that role she wouldn’t want any other distractions. Ash, Abhi's Ravan in Trouble

Two caravans used in the shooting of Mani Ratnam's multilingual movie Ravan, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, in Ooty have been seized for having forged vehicle documents, police said on Tuesday.

The two caravans had the same registration number. "An investigation led to findings of fraud in the use of forged vehicle IDs and tax evasion, which in turn led to seizure of four vehicles during the last week," said a police official.

According to police, the vehicles seized in Ooty have been valued at Rs 12 million. Both Abhishek and Aishwarya are said to have used the vehicles during the shooting.

The shooting of Ravan has been shifted to another hill station, Hogenekkal (some 300 km southwest from Chennai).
The police official said he feared the "racket may be much bigger since all top stars use high-priced caravans". Police teams have left for Mumbai and elsewhere in Tamil Nadu to look for other similar vehicles.

Sources close to Ratnam said: "To our knowledge only two vehicles that were being operated for us have been seized. The suppliers who lent logistical support to our outdoor units should be blamed. Our shooting is in progress without any glitches."

"Our office has taken up the issue with the suppliers," the source added. Ravan is being made in Hindi and Tamil. It also stars Tamil actors Vikram and Karthik. Since shooting began last year, minor problems have dogged the venture, including Ratnam being laid down with a mild heart problem, and cinematographer Manikandan handing over the work to another celebrated cameraman Santosh Sivan.

Ash, Kareena Patch up

Director Karan Johar's birthday bash turned out to be an occasion for a grand reunion between Bollywood stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor. The two giggled and danced together, ending the long-standing cold war between the Bachchan and the Kapoor families.

The birthday party on Monday evening saw Aishwarya and Kareena laughing, giggling, whispering and behaving like two long-lost friends, adding that extra zing to Karan's glamour-gorged bash.

The women also took to the dance floor together and ended the cold war between the two families that started when Aishwarya's hubby Abhishek Bachchan broke his relationship with Kareena's sister Karisma.

The break-up between Abhishek and Karisma also severed relationship between the Bachchan and Kapoor families. But the two families began to resolve their differences after the recent efforts of Aishwarya and Karan Johar.

During the release of Abhishek's Drona last year, director Goldie Behl also invited Kareena and her sister to the premiere for a patch up. But perhaps the wounds hadn't healed completely. Karan's party on Monday did the trick.

Kareena said recently she loved the way Aishwarya conducted her career after marriage and would love to conduct her career the same way.

Now after the dance of rapprochement it's only a matter of time before Abhishek and Kareena come together again for a film after Refugee and Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon. And chances are Karan Johar would design the project.

Ash gets grace Marks with Sonam

Sonam was excited about walking down the red carpet with Ash during the Cannes Film Festival, however, that didn’t happen.

Sonam and Ash represent the same beauty brand and chances are that these actresses might have to walk the red carpet at some event in the future. So the young Sonam wanted all to be well between her and Ash. “Aishwarya was a picture of grace,” said a source at the party. “Earlier she hugged and made up with Kareena Kapoor, and then when Sonam walked up to her, she didn’t hesitate to warm up to the young girl either.” Must give full marks to Ash; beauty and grace is a lethal combination.

Abhi Sidelined Ash

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan stole the show when she walked the red carpet at Cannes in white gown with Eva Longoria of Desperate Housewives. If on one side, Ash was busy sharing pleasantries with Eva then on the side, Abhishek Bachchan got engrossed in talking with Eva's husband Tony Parker, a popular basketball player. He was so much absorbed in sharing views with Parker that he had sidelined his dearest wife.

Abhishek and Parker share a common interest and it is basketball. Eva’s hubby Toney Parker is a famous basketball player and Abhishek too takes a lot of interest in the game as he himself used to play basketball in school. As both are connected to basketball, they got the house on fire.

They discussed about the game and exchanged views regarding other issues. Being a NBA fan, Abhi was quite excited to meet Parker.

Both had a gala time at Cannes while their wives were busy in their own departments.

Barbara Mori Snubs Aishwarya Rai at Cannes

The 62nd Cannes Film Festival may be one Aishwarya Rai would like to forget. Even before her alleged rivalry with youngster Sonam Kapoor over age, popularity and sex appeal is laid to rest, there is yet another newcomer who has given the former Miss World a cold shoulder.

Reports claim that while at Cannes, Ash learnt that her Jodhaa Akbar co-star Hrithik Roshan and his Kites co-star Barbara Mori were staying at the same hotel as her and hubby Abhishek.

In a gesture of friendship (and in her spirit of a proverbial ambassador of India), Ash went up to Mori's room to say hello.

To her surprise, not only did Mori not reciprocate her gesture, she instead barely spoke for a minute and then excused herself saying she is late for a performance.

Hrithik, having worked with Ash a few times, realised that Barbara's indifference would have hurt Ash and he reportedly tried to make amends, but to no avail as the damage had already been done.

It's been a shocking summer for Ash.

Ash didn't script Sonam's Cannes Fiasco?

There were rumours that actress and L'Oreal ambassador Aishwarya Rai may have held back Sonam Kapoor from walking the Cannes red carpet.

But sources close to the former beauty queen say she didn't even know that Sonam was to visit the French film festival.

"She (Aishwarya) did not even know that Sonam was going to be at Cannes because she was there for just two days (May 13-14) where her days were packed with back-to-back interactions with the international media, fashion shoots for various European fashion magazines and other business meetings besides attending all the events at the festival," a source close to Aishwarya told IANS.

as a visitor and that is how many in the film fraternity and normal public go from across the world."

Confusion ensued when L'Oreal issued a list of those ambassadors that were to represent the brand at the French festival and Sonam's name was missing from it. This, despite a formal announcement made by the company officials on Sonam's presence at the Cannes at a press conference in Mumbai on May 10.

Sonam, who was earlier set to leave for Cannes Monday and was excited to rub shoulders with Aishwarya and Hollywood A-listers like Elizabeth Banks and Eva Longoria, finally did not go for the film festival when company officials asked her to stay back.

According to media reports released thereafter, Aishwarya was not very upbeat about the fact that Sonam would share the same stage with her as the face of L'Oreal and asked company officials to deny her the opportunity of being there.

But clarifying their decision of holding back Sonam to go for Cannes, a spokesperson from L'Oreal said in a press release: "We do not want to take part in or encourage any controversy involving our spokespeople. There were adverse reports in certain sections of media after some comments by Sonam Kapoor, which were presented out of context.

"Following this, in order to avoid further escalation, we have advised Sonam not to go to Cannes as was planned earlier, bearing in mind that there would be more interesting opportunities for future appearances in Europe for her."

Ash 'Cannes' crush Sonam's Dreams

It seems the Ash-Sonam rivalry is here to stay. Days after the fiasco where Sonam made comments regarding Ash's appeal, the drama has taken a new turn.

Reports say that L'Oreal, the brand over which the fall-out took place, clarified that Ash has not been replaced by any means. They said that while Sonam has been signed on as the Indian face of the brand, Ash continues to be the international face.

It seems, however, that these assurances weren't enough for Ash, who is currently in Cannes for the prestigious film festival as a brand ambassador for L'Oreal.

Recent reports claim that Sonam was invited to walk the red carpet at Cannes with Ash and her co-L'Oreal girls - Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and Hollywood star Michelle Yeoh at the premiere of Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodovar's latest offering Broken Embraces. It was meant to be an event where L'Oreal would shine in all its light as apart from Ash, Eva and Michelle, the star of the film, Penelope Cruz was also going to be at the premiere.

Given the recent events, sharing the red carpet with Sonam was not something that went down well with Ash, who apparently showed her displeasure, sending the company to immediately call the Delhi-6 girl to deliver the bad news - that her Cannes dreams have been crushed.

L'Oreal may do well to take some help from Abhishek Bachchan in this matter, since he is the other one who will be stuck between his co-star turned friend Sonam Kapoor and his wife Ash.
