Shah Rukh Khan's green move

This year the big buzz at the Delhi Auto Expo has been about small and green cars given the concerns over climate change and gas guzzling cars.

Shah Rukh Khan launched a green version of Hyundai's i10 car in New Delhi at the ongoing Auto Expo. Hyundai Motors India Ltd, which is India's second largest car manufacturer, unveiled their electric car during the 2010 Auto Expo.

Hours before the launch the star, who has just joined the Twitter, posted an 'ironic' tweet: "Got to go have a flight to catch. Taking a jet plane.. travel in a motorcade and launch an environmentally friendly I 20 Hyundai car. Ironic."

The i10 Electric which made its debut to the Indian audience in October 2007, was also showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in mid September this year.

In place of the 1.1 or 1.2 litre petrol engines which power the Hyundai i10, in India and overseas, the i10 Electric will be powered by a 49kW (66.6 PS) electric motor under the hood and driving its front wheels.

Hyundai Motor India already has a strong line-up of alternate fuel technology like: Santro CNG & LPG, Accent CNG & LPG and i10 CNG in India. The unveiling of the i10 Electric further reconfirms Hyundai's commitment to develop environmentally friendly cars for the global automobile market.

Apart from the current product line-up, Hyundai Motor India pavilion will also display its futuristic technology in the form of concept cars.

Farah takes revenge, dumps Shahrukh

Here is the shocker of the year! The leading actor of director Farah Khan’s next film is not Shahrukh Khan. It is Akshay Kumar. Titled Tees Maar Khan (TMK), the film is a joint production between the actor’s Hari Om Productions and her company (owned jointly with husband Shirish Kunder) Three’s Company. This casting is interesting because Farah is Shahrukh’s rakhi sister and Akshay is his arch-rival. Both her previous films had her mooh-bola-bhai in lead roles. Her third film, Happy New Year was to feature him too but he kept sending her back to the writing boards as he wasn’t happy with it. When it became clear that in 2010, SRK would finish Ra1 and Don, she dropped the project and approached Akshay for TMK.And though Farah and Shahrukh are not working together, she remains very fond of him.Apparently, she met SRK yesterday at Mannat to apprise him of the latest developments of her film and to let him know that Akshay was her lead hero before Shahrukh heard it from anyone else.Clearly, there is stress between SRK and Farah. The unwritten rule has been broken.

Until now it was understood: If Farah Khan (or Karan Johar) made a film, it would star SRK. But by casting Khan’s dushman, she has proved what was only being speculated so far – that all is not well between them. It is believed that the actor was not happy with the script and asked her to rewrite it a few times but she felt these were just delaying tactics and he wanted to start the superhero flick Ra1 and the action-thriller Don 2 before her film. She felt hurt that he gave her the run-around instead of being direct with her. Things have been brewing beneath the surface for quite some time now.Farah has been missing from most parties at Mannat. She has been slowly distancing herself from the clique. Also, Farah felt that Shahrukh had treated Shirish badly by offering him The Zoya Factor to direct for his home production, and then passing the film off to someone else without even informing him.

SRK had also given the nod to Tees Maar Khan to be directed by Shirish initially, then later had second thoughts about it. Shirish was also in talks with Shahrukh Khan for another film (Joker) but that didn’t work out as well.Shirish Kunder says, “Yes, it’s true that Akshay and I are co-producing Tees Maar Khan and Farah is directing the film. The production company that Farah and I have formed is called Three’s Company Production Pvt Ltd. I had written this film with Akshay in mind and was initially planning to direct it but when Farah and I formed our production company, we mutually thought it best that she direct this film while I take the responsibility of a producer.Akshay and I shared a great rapport while working on Jaan-e-Mann and I have been looking to work with him again. This project gives me that opportunity.”When quizzed as to why Farah didn’t take Shahrukh for her next project, Farah says simply, “I am very fond of Shahrukh but I have to be there for my husband.

Shirish needs my support today and he’s family.”Farah’s brother Sajid Khan’s directorial debut starred Akshay Kumar. His second film, which is in the making, also stars Akki. Akshay was also the lead star (along with Salman Khan) of Farah’s husband Shirish Kunder’s directorial debut Jaan-E-Mann. We have heard that Shirish Kunder is co-producing a film Tees Maar Khan with Akshay Kumar which Akshay is starring in and Farah Khan is directing. Are you aware of it and if you are, are you okay that Farah’s next film won’t be with you?

Now, a Katrina-Shah Rukh Khan love story?

Rumour has it that Katrina Kaif is set to turn producer and the industry buzz is that the actor (said to have broken up with long-time boyfriend Salman Khan) wants to cast Shah Rukh in the lead opposite herself. An informer reveals: "Katrina is taking keen interest in the finer points of film production and is meeting trade guys to get a better hang of how these things function. She has also spoken with producers she has worked with earlier about the nitty-gritty of producing a movie and it's obvious that she wants to produce her own movie at some point of time."

The source adds: "The industry has been gossiping that Salman and Kat parted ways some time back and though she's still friends with Sallu, her business venture won't include him. It seems she wants to make a romantic movie and cast Shah Rukh Khan in it -- opposite herself. Kat shares a friendly relationship with SRK these days and feels that when it comes to romance, SRK is the man for her. She'd also like to do a movie with Akshay, with whom she has got the most number of hits."

Recent PR survey rates Ranbir over Shahrukh Khan

While most of his colleagues believe that Shah Rukh Khan has the most efficient PR machine for himself, Ranbir Kapoor has pipped SRK to the post in terms of PR strategy and popularity. In a survey conducted by Eikona, the Specialised Content and PR Measurement Evaluation Unit division of TAM (Television Audience Measurement) across four cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore, Ranbir Kapoor gets the most number of votes 39 points out of 40 as the top actor who has garnered maximum publicity because of the publicity campaign generated for Wake Up Sid.Sanjay Dutt is a close second at (37).

But here’s the shocker. Shah Rukh is at the bottom of the list (on number 10) in terms of PR and media coverage managing only 4 points out of 40. Even the media-shy Salman Khan beats SRK with a score of 21 while Aamir tops Salman with 25. Hrithik Roshan comes third with a score of 32. Ranbir is modest about his popularity, “I really don’t know if I should be thankful or apologetic about it. I guess it’s also because of the multiplex strike that three films of mine are releasing back to back. But I will make a conscious effort next time to space my releases.”

According to Karan Johar, it’s Ranbir’s almost iconic fan following amongst the youth that has got him his popularity. “If Ranbir tops the list it’s because of his publicity done for Wake Up Sid for which I would like to thank his efficient publicist. I would also thank Ranbir for being so supportive about our PR strategy. Both Ranbir, my publicist, publicity designer Divya and Ayaan (Mukherjee) have all worked to promote and project Ranbir and Wake Up Sid the correct manner. If Ranbir has created a buzz it’s because we have targeted the demography of the youth and we all know that the youth dictates a large section of viewing audiences today.

Surprisingly, Karan’s best friend Shah Rukh is seen at the bottom of the list. KJo defends SRK, “Shah Rukh is above any ratings. He won’t come under any ratings. He is a national and international icon and not to be put into these ratings. Which product won’t sell if Shah Rukh endorses it? He’s almost the face of the entertainment world above and beyond ratings.”

What the future holds for Ash and SRK?

Both the Scorpions are superstars at the top of their game. Aishwarya Rai turns 36 tomorrow and SRK turns 44 on Monday. Celebrity astro-numerologist Bhavikk Sangghvi decodes what the stars in the firmament have in store for the Bollywood icons. “Ash was born on 1st November, 1973 which makes her a Number 1 person in numerology. Her sun sign is Scorpio (ruler Mars – Number 9) and her destiny number adds up to Number 5 (Mercury) which indicates a strong ‘mangal’ in her birth chart,” explains Bhavikk.“Ash is what she is ruled by – Number 1, the most powerful star in the solar system – the Sun. Without it, there is no existence. She is strong, aggressive and a complete go-getter. She is so determined about what she wants in life that nothing and absolutely nothing can stop her from doing that.

At times her approach could be a bit forceful but she knows how to mellow it down when required. Her communication skills are so effective that she can make people spell bound by her speech,” he explains further. “Ash will soon be entering her 37th year, which cannot be termed as a good time for her. Especially the year 2010 which belongs to Jupiter (Number 3) does not support Number 1 people in general,” warns Bhavikk.“On the professional front, her next release Raavan along with hubby Abhishek adds up to Number 16. If released before this year end, this film will not only do well but also Ash’s performance in this film will be widely appreciated. After that in Action Replayy, it will be Akshay Kumar who will steal the limelight from her but she will definitely share the credit of the film’s success.

Lastly, in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish, once again her work will gather great reviews from audiences and critics alike but the box office fate of the film does not look bright,” predicts Sangghvi. “Now talking about her personal life, the world is eager to know whether she will embrace motherhood in the New Year. My answer for this would be – YES. For Abhishek, he will soon enter his 35th year which is good for him. But there can be a possibility that the baby would be born only in 2011,” is Bhavikk’s final word on Ash.

Salman avoids Shahrukh at Ghai's party

Subhash Ghai's wedding anniversary date (October 24) coincides with the date he launched his production company Mukta Arts (it turns 31 this year). The showman's annual bash was a star-studded one this year minus Salman Khan. Shahrukh Khan, Rishi and Randhir Kapoor, Riya Sen, Karan Johar, Hrithik and Sussanne Roshan, Rohit Roy, Chunky Pandey and Salman's good friend Katrina Kaif were seen attending the party. Last year, Salman attended Ghai's wedding anniversary while Shah Rukh had stayed away.

Buzz up!
Commenting on the absence of Salman Ghai says, "Though I had invited Salman, he couldn't attend because he was attending his uncle's (Salim Khan's brother) 50th birthday in Indore. Salman has always been very nice and respectful with me. He did Yuvvraaj with me at a time when my last film Kisna had flopped. In this industry, you are what you are according to your last film. I don't approach stars for their work but those who have worked with me like Jackie, Shahrukh, Madhuri, Meenakshi, Hrithik, Sanjay Dutt and Salman all become part of my family and they all treat me with love and affection. Though Priyanka and Aishwarya (flights got delayed) couldn't attend, Ash's mom Vrinda came and Priyanka sent me a sweet text saying she was out of town. I was surprised to get a huge bouquet from Madhuri (who's in the USA) while she personally called to wish me and my wife."

Commenting on his warm association with Shahrukh, Ghai says, "I had first met him when he had signed Dil Aashna Hai and had come to a party. Ramesh Sippy introduced us and as we shook hands, I could see the warmth in this boy. I told Ramesh that he was going to be a superstar and he had the right style and attitude for it even as a newcomer. Then I signed him for Trimurti. I was supposed to do Motherland with Shahrukh but the film got delayed because of his back problem and I went ahead with Kisna but the love I have for him will never change. He will always remain a family member and I hope to work with him sometime again soon."

There is no war between SRK and me: Salman

Salman Khan says there is no war or rivalry between him and his colleague Shah Rukh Khan. He said stories of friction between them are created by the media and that he is tired of such news.
“There is no war between us. It is the media who creates all this misunderstanding,” Salman said on Tuesday after his ‘Being Human’ show at the ongoing HDIL India Couture Week.

“You will ask me some question about him here and then you will ask him the same question regarding me somewhere else – then you clip them together and run it continuously on TV screens for days creating unnecessary hype and misunderstanding,” he added.

The actor clarified that he is tired of such rumours and doesn’t enjoy them at all.”I would request you to show respect to him and me as well. I am tired of all this. Aren’t you people bored too?” asked Salman.

Karan Johar wants Shah Rukh to romance Katrina!

While many would call their pair a rather unique one when they come together, producer/director Karan Johar is leaving no stone unturned to make SRK-Kat combo a reality.
According to reports, Karan Johar is more than keen to capture Shah Rukh and Katrina’s reel romance and has even hinted signing on the two for his next movie. In an interview given to a news channel, Karan was candid enough to say that Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif are the most romantic actors in Bollywood and he didn’t weed out possibility of casting the duo.

If KJo is successful in signing the two on the dotted line, then his home production will become the second movie starring the actors, for they are already said to be working together in a Yash Raj production.

Quite incidentally, Salman, in a recent interview had said that he won`t have any problem if Katrina works with Shah Rukh. Katrina seems to have taken a big cue from her boyfriend for she is missing no opportunity to work with his archrival SRK.

So, is that the end of the Salman-SRK war, guys? It surely looks like that.

Khans at war: Salman, Aamir and Shah Rukh set to Lock Horns

As if clashing at the Box Office and social events was not enough - the Khans have now decided to take their brawl to the ramp. Competing to outdo one another, Salman and Shah Rukh are set to lock horns once again in a show of one-upmanship at the Couture Week.

And joining this mega tussle is Bollywood’s fabled actor Aamir Khan, who for once has made his position clear by joining hands with Salman.

Wondering, what’s this hullabaloo is all about? Well, it so happens that ever since Karan Johar announced that his best pal SRK and Gauri will be walking the ramp for him, Salman has been busy adding A-listers to his own list of ramp-scorchers.

And now besides his lady-luck Katrina, fabled actor Aamir Khan too will be seen walking the ramp for Sallu’s charity ‘Being Human’.

To be held from October 11-16, the couture week has sure become the venue to watch out for. Nevertheless, it will be rare treat to watch the three Khans on the ramp. As for Aamir, the actor did have initial inhibitions but later gave in to Salman’s requests.

Looks like the war between SRK and Salman has done great wonders for Aamir. As for whose show will lead only time will tell. Will it be Shah Rukh’s dimpled ways, Salman’s raw appeal or Aamir’s perfectionist self? After all, the wish to lead is only human.

My name is Khan’ and I am Proud of it: Shah Rukh

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, whose controversial trip to the US has been making headlines for quite sometime, returned home on Tuesday to a warm welcome from cheering fans.

Govt must take up Shah Rukh detention with US, says Lalu I`m law abiding, but US airport experience embarrassing: SRK Shah Rukh says he will cut back on US visits SRK`s interrogation in US was a waste of time: Farah Khan
Talking to the media about his detention and questioning at a US airport, the actor said, “I was asked bizarre questions. The US authorities asked me whether someone in the US could vouch for me. I have no bitterness and demand no apology but a streamlined procedure should have been followed as I didn’t go through retina or fingerprints scan but was asked irrelevant questions.”

Reacting to allegations that the whole episode was a publicity stunt to promote his upcoming film ‘My Name is Khan’, the actor said, “It’s disgusting if people think that it’s all a publicity stunt. My film will come after eight to nine months, publicity starts just three months before the release of a film. Moreover, this is not a matter of pride for me to publicise it. I do not want to sound pompous but Shah Rukh Khan does not need publicity.”

The actor further said, “I think it is a procedure that needs to be followed, but it was unfortunate. I don’t want to be treated in a special way but I maintain that the experience was a little uncomfortable. They are more cautious about certain races and religions. That’s the issue.”

“What happened with APJ Abdul Kalam was atrocious. He is the highest orders of the country, that was really an issue,” he added.

Reacting to fellow actor Salman Khan’s comments that such routine security check-up was okay, the actor said, “It is his experience and his point of view but it was not comfortable for me. I will go to the US again but I would limit my visits and I would not like to travel there with my family.”

On a lighter vein, Shah Rukh said, “If we go for tit for tat and follow the US security system then I would like to frisk Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox when they come to India.”

Shah Rukh, who had gone to the US for the South Asian Independence Day Carnival in Houston and Chicago, was detained at the Newark airport for questioning. The actor said that he was thoroughly questioned by officials, then some more came and asked questions about his films, film company etc. They searched his handbag and said that his name is common and is popping on computer. Although his promoter in US was explaining about him, they did not listen. When he requested to use the phone, they said it’s not allowed but gave him permission. The actor then called the Indian consulate and they promised to help him out.

The incident caused a furore in India, with the government stating that the issue will be taken up with the US. The actor will next be seen in the much hyped film `My Name is Khan`, which ironically revolves around a Muslim man and his experiences in a post 9/11 America.

Katrina Kaif to work Opposite Shahrukh Khan

Katrina Kaif is making it abundantly clear to beau Salman Khan that his enemies are not hers, and she is ready to do anything that will further her career.

Shortly after working with Salman's arch-enemy John Abraham in New York, reports say that Katrina is now all set to work opposite his other nemesis, Shah Rukh Khan.

Katrina, who has been climbing the ladder of success most consistently ever since she came into the film industry, has been on good terms with SRK despite his fallout with Salman.

Kat first sent this signal to Sallu when she joined SRK on his Temptations tour in 2008, shortly after the infamous fight between the two Khans that happened on the occasion of her 24th birthday celebrations.

Recently, Katrina had expressed a desire to work with SRK, and now it seems Yash Raj has given her what she wants. The movie moghuls of Bollywood have reportedly signed on these two since they are currently the most successful actors in the industry and are yet to star opposite each other.

Yash Raj might also be hoping to repeat the curiosity value they created with New York and John and Katrina's relationship that drew audiences in hordes to the theatres.

Nothing has been finalised yet but sources say that either Kabir Khan or Aditya Chopra will direct the film.

Katrina might be young, but she certainly has a mind of her own.

I don’t want to be Brand ambassador for causes: Shah Rukh

Shah Rukh Khan is back in his hometown of yore, and is feeling quite at ease in the crisp, drier environment of Delhi. While contemporary stars are struggling to have their voices heard or to find a balance between stardom and lawfulness, SRK has no difficulty balancing the various facets of his life, and that also with quite a high rate of success – thanks to his diplomacy and political correctness. So, when the topic of causes for stars and people in general was raised, he did not shy away from the issue.

With the number of social cases are at a rise in the glamorous world (Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja), it gets beguilingly easy to slip into the role of a representative for a cause, especially for a popular star as articulate as Shah Rukh.

However, Shah Rukh side-stepped the issue with admirable diplomacy. Talking to a news daily recently, he said, “No no, I’m just a capitalist, happy-go-lucky, dumb star! I’m happier playing that role because otherwise what I say can be misused, misconstrued, unless the platforms decide to take a side.”

Making his position very clear, he added, “When I talk about things like this, and then I am misconstrued, I am disturbed about it. I say, chhodo yaar, yeh side nahin le rahe hain, and then I realise I am in some way becoming a brand ambassador for these causes and debates. I don’t want to be a brand ambassador for this! Unless I choose to sell a car, I don’t need to be its brand ambassador, do I?”

Not at all King Khan, you are a brand just being yourself!

I am just a dumb Star: Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan and modesty don't really go well. But then King Khan is almost always capable of doing the unexpected.

Recently when a national daily sought SRK's reaction on being an extremely popular and articulate star, this is what he had to say, "I'm just a capitalist, happy-go-lucky, dumb star! I'm happier playing that role because otherwise what I say can be misused, misconstrued, unless the platforms decide to take a side. When I talk about things like this, and then I am misconstrued, I am disturbed about it. I say, chhodo yaar, yeh side nahin le rahe hain, and then I realise I am in some way becoming a brand ambassador for these causes and debates. I don't want to be a brand ambassador for this! Unless I choose to sell a car, I don't need to be its brand ambassador, do I?"

While he himself wants to stay away from taking a stand on anything, Shah Rukh wants the media to do that. "I've realised that I don't need to take a side – you, the media – need to take a side. You should also give people who don't agree with your stand, a chance to express themselves, but you need to take a stand. And it's not my job to take a stand – I'm just a vulgar star!"

After Salman, Shah Rukh Slams Emraan for ‘flat’ fiasco

Emraan Hashmi’s publicity stunt has fallen flat. Against his hope that the Khans will come out in his support when he raised his voice over communalism issue in Mumbai on being denied the NOC to purchase a flat in the posh Pali Hill area, he is being slammed instead of being celebrated by Muslim actors in Bollywood. After Salman rebuffed Hashmi’s claim, Shah Rukh brushed aside the issue stating that such incidents should not be given importance.
Shah Rukh, who is a Muslim but prefers to call himself a ‘secular Indian’, said, “I have never been treated differently because of my religion. I am 44 years old now and never in my life have I felt discriminated.”

Shah Rukh further stated that he cannot deny the existence of such incidents but added, “It is a one-off incident and should not be given too much importance. We are a fast growing nation and the reason for our development is the fact that we have overcome the barriers of religion, castes, class in our hearts and minds. We should not let these small incidents affect us.”

The actor was in New Delhi to conduct a quiz show organised by Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM).

Earlier, superstar Salman Khan laughed off Hashmi’s claim in his characteristic drawl, saying, "Emraan Hashmi would not have been Emraan Hashmi if Mumbai was not secular." Salman Khan further said, "If communalism existed then Salman Khan would not have been Salman Khan, Aamir not Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh not Shah Rukh Khan. Injustice may have happened to others, but it has not happened to us. I have always got love and support from all quarters."

Moreover, Nibbana, the Housing Society in the posh Pali Hill area of suburban Bandra in Mumbai, has also rubbished actor Emraan Hashmi`s allegation that he was denied NOC for flat ownership because he is a Muslim and said that proper procedures for acquiring the NOC had not been followed.

Society Secretary Capt J P Chhetry said that the actor with his baseless allegations and minority card rake-up had inflicted lot of damage on the society. "We will not take this lying down," he said adding that the society is taking legal opinion.

He added that the incident was blown out of proportion as the flat has not yet been sold to the actor. "Last week, when the actor`s parents entered the society office when we were discussing this important matter demanding to know about the NOC status, I politely told them that the matter has been deferred and they had not made a formal application," said Chhetry.

Aishwarya and Shah Rukh to end seven year long cold War

Looks like Aishwarya and Shah Rukh’s seven year old cold war is soon going to end. The two will reportedly be seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s next home production.
According to reports, the clash of the two titans that began when Aishwarya was ousted from ‘Chalte Chalte’ (SRK’s home production) due to Salman’s incorrigible behaviour on the sets of the same is on the verge of a cease. Since the ouster episode had not gone down well with Ash. The two chose to keep mum henceforth, leading to a subsequent cold war between the two. But things are now looking positive as the actors have apparently agreed to work together again.

Sources suggest that SRK and Ash have decided to bury their hatchets and work together for a flick to be produced by SRK’s ‘Red Chillies Entertainment’. The other details regarding the project are not known as yet but what’s sure here is the fact that the two colossal actors will surely be seen giving each other company.

The shooting for the film is expected to start in 2010.

SRK is vacationing in house he Bought in most Expensive locality in UK

Shah Rukh Khan after wrapping up the shoot for Karan Johar's My Name is Khan in the States has been in London on a vacation with his family.

This time, the actor stayed at a house he bought earlier this year in one of the most expensive area codes in the world (Park Lane, Central London). A source reveals, "The actor has always said that London is one of his most favourite places to relax and unwind.

Every year, during the kids' vacations, the family of four heads off to the Queen's country. He has been spotted spending evenings with Aryan and Suhana at Hyde Park, a stone's throw away from Park Lane."

The source continues, "On one of his walks, the actor saw a 'To Let' sign on his apartment building on the Park Lane Street and started to make enquiries about the house from his local friends.

Any normal apartment in this area comes in a range of 2 million pounds to 8 million pounds. Khan, it seems, has bought one that's close to 7 million pounds and it is apparently, a five-bedroom apartment."

Priyanka's heart Beats for Shahrukh

Priyanka Chopra may have huge fan following but when it comes to her choice, she has got only one name in her lips and he is the favorite of all, Shahrukh Khan. Priyanka has been a great admirer of Shahrukh Khan since the age of six.
Says Priyanka, ''I have always been and will always be a fan of Shah Rukh Khan. I admire a lot of people but true blue, going weak in the knees type of fan I am only of SRK!''

In the long tenure of her career, Piggy Chops has worked with many Bollywood actors but her choice always been Shahrukh. Though she paired with him for the first time in ‘Don’, she could not forget her first meeting with the actor.

''I have been a huge fan of Shah Rukh Khan since I was six. During Miss India 2000, he was one of the judges who asked me a question. I got a chance to meet him backstage and managed to say, ''Hello.'' When he heard that I sing, he asked me to do so. I still don't remember what I sang. I will always admire Shah Rukh.''
