Aishwarya and Shah Rukh to end seven year long cold War

Looks like Aishwarya and Shah Rukh’s seven year old cold war is soon going to end. The two will reportedly be seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s next home production.

According to reports, the clash of the two titans that began when Aishwarya was ousted from ‘Chalte Chalte’ (SRK’s home production) due to Salman’s incorrigible behaviour on the sets of the same is on the verge of a cease. Since the ouster episode had not gone down well with Ash. The two chose to keep mum henceforth, leading to a subsequent cold war between the two. But things are now looking positive as the actors have apparently agreed to work together again.

Sources suggest that SRK and Ash have decided to bury their hatchets and work together for a flick to be produced by SRK’s ‘Red Chillies Entertainment’. The other details regarding the project are not known as yet but what’s sure here is the fact that the two colossal actors will surely be seen giving each other company.

The shooting for the film is expected to start in 2010.

Aishwarya wants a junior Bachchan Now

Aishwarya Rai who is quite busy these days with promotions and movies wants to prepare herself to become a mother.

Aishwarya apparently wants to complete all her work by 2010 so that she can concentrate on motherhood.

A source close to Ash says, “This no doubt is the busiest phase of Aishwarya’s career. Such a flurry of assignments has never been seen before in any married actress’ life and she’d be foolish to let such opportunities slip by. Luckily, Abhishek is thoroughly supportive of her career. She wants to complete as many of these assignments as she can to before she becomes a mother. Because once she gets into that role she wouldn’t want any other distractions. That, Aishwarya is sure of.”

So junior of Junior Bachchan is not far away.

Irresponsible statements about her private life will not be left to grow without a strong rebuttal," a statement issued on behalf of the actress by her publicist said.

"This may be read and understood in no uncertain terms that henceforth we would be forced to take legal recourse in any such event of a piece or article appearing without any credibility or which is an absolute fabrication of one's imagination," it said. The Bollywood diva's ire was directed at a section of the media after a quote was attributed to her saying that "`If I want to remain in the film industry, then I need to stay fit`" and implied that she will not have children and it further states that Abhishek is in agreement to this."

The statement said previously the actress chose to remain silent to the news that she was married off to a tree.
"This silence should not be construed as weakness," it said.

The statement said Aishwarya got married in the middle of a film and has been a thorough professional even after her wedding.

"We must not forget that besides being a star in every right, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is about a daughter, a wife and a daughter-in-law, a symbol of our tradition and she has always believed and practiced values that govern our society," the statement added.

When Vipul Shah Gave into Ash's starry tantrums

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan isn't her usual picture-of-calm self these days. She's claimed to be throwing starry tantrums and losing her cool way too often off late, it is said.

Recently, Ash declined to share the red carpet with Sonam Kapoor at the Cannes film festival. Then she gave some heartache to Mani Ratnam during the shoot of Raavan.

The latest bit of goss comes from the sets of Vipul Shah's 'Action Replay'. Apparently, during the shoot Ash refused to get her make-up done by a foreign artist, insisting on her personal make-up man, Ojas Rajani.

"Ash was completely averse to the idea of going to the make-up staffs' trailer to get her make-up done, given her international star status. She refused to work with the foreign artists and insisted on working with her personal make-up man," an industry source was quoted by Mumbai Mirror as saying.

Amar Comes first for Aishwarya, Work Follows

Aishwarya Rai has never had such a terrible schedule, for the actress is stressed out in order to find a balance between family and work. But come what may, her family has always remained her first priority and will remain so.

According to reports, Ash, who had previously requested director Mani Ratnam to defer the shooting of his flick ‘Ravana’ since her close family associate Amar Singh wasn’t in the best of his health, has stalled her shoot once more for she has to visit Mr Singh in Singapore.

It is believed that the unforeseen health problems of her loved ones have provided unscheduled setbacks to Ash’s shoots. Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ravana’ has been facing troubles since it came into being since Mani’s health hasn’t been great either. While a major chunk of Aishwarya’s dates went to waste because of Mani’s illness, it is time for Mani to bear the brunt of Amar’s illness.

Considering the loss of her work, when the matter of the entire Bachchan family going for Amar Singh’s surgery came up, Aishwarya was reportedly asked to cancel her participation to avoid any further inconvenience to her directors. “But for Aishwarya a family commitment is paramount. Work can wait. This is professionally her most crowded and difficult period ever”, says a source.

Rajnikanth gets a kick From Ash!

India’s face to the Hollywood, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, is seen in a sci-fiction with south super star Rajnikanth.

Aishwarya will exhibit some spellbinding action moves in the film for which she has been learning the ancient martial arts, karate from a proficient stuntman, Ramesh from South. Ash strained her muscles in a karate fight sequence with Rajni.

“The movie will have scenes in which Rajnikanth and Aishwarya will be engaged in karate fight sequences. They are even supposed to fight with each other but that's because Rajnikanth is playing Ash's teacher in that scene. He will be shown as someone who takes on the mantle to train karate to his beloved (Ash) as well as some others so that they can protect themselves against evil forces," DNA quoted a source from the industry as saying.

Dressed in a pale yellow, elegant sari, the 60-year-old actress was at her forthright best when asked about her future projects.

'I've signed one or two (films) which are held up because of the financial problems in the whole world. Otherwise I would have finished those two and they would have released by now.'

'One is with Nana Patekar which Deepa Sahi is directing, and the other is with another producer. It is not right to expose everything about a film,' she said.

Another film that Hema is working on is 'Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi' - in which she will play a role based on the life of prominent political figure Vijayaraje Scindia.

Hema, who has delivered hits like 'Seeta Aur Geeta', 'Satte Pe Satta', and 'Sholay' in the past, is also toying with the idea of getting into production and returning to direction after almost 17 years.

'I'm planning to start production. I don't want to say much about it because every time I talk about these things, they never happen. It's my desire to make lovely films because I am an artist and a very creative person,' she said.

'But filmmaking is not a joke...so many things are involved,' she added.

The actress, who had her first stint with direction in 1992 with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Dil Aashna Hai', says she would want to be a liberal producer and not want to impose her ideas on the youth.

Now, Aishwarya calls Sonam ‘just another junior Actress’

The war of words between Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor still seems to be going strong. A few weeks back, Sonam had apparently offended Aishwarya by calling her `Aunty ji` (owing to the fact that Ash has been paired with her dad Anil Kapoor onscreen). And now, Ash has hit back at her by calling her ‘just another junior actress’.

According to our source, while inaugurating a beauty school for the cosmetic giant L`Oreal, Aishwarya said that the issue has been blown up by the media. Ash also mentioned that there was no competition between her and Sonam as she was ‘just another junior actress’ and there isn’t a need for seniors to compete with the juniors to prove them.

Both the actresses have not been on positive terms ever since Sonam became the young face of cosmetic giant L`Oreal, while Ash represented older women for the same brand.
It is believed this is what infuriated Ash, and she made sure that Sonam missed the opportunity to walk the Red Carpet during the Cannes Film Festival.

With the way Ash has hit back, we wonder if she really thinks of Sonam as ‘just another junior actress’!

Farah says,”The choker that Rakhi will be wearing for her wedding day is very heavy. It looks very traditional and covers almost her entire neck.”

Rakhi is apparently going to wear a necklace worth whooping Rs 30 million on her wedding day.

Sonam Kapoor, the young face of Bollywood is not willing to take things quitely after the Cannes disaster she is charged up to take revenge with Aishwarya Rai in every possible way.

So Sonam in a recent interview branded beauty queen Aishwarya Rai as an AUNTY because she has worked with her dad Anil Kapoor.

Sonam said, ‘Ash has worked with my dad so I have to call her aunty na?’

She apparently refers to Ash as Ash aunty whenever she is with her friends.

Beware Sonam! Last time you referred to Ash as a part of the older generation and you were barred from being the part of L’oreal Dream team at Cannes 2009 and after this statement wonder what Aishwarya will do next.

Late-latif Ash learns to be Punctual

Being a star is no excuse in sir Vipul Shah's class. Recently, Aishwarya Rai learnt a lesson or two from the director of Action Replay, when she constantly turned up late on the sets of the movie.

According to sources, Aishwarya 'religiously' turned up late on the sets of Action Replay, delaying the entire schedule. She would spend most of her time doing up her hair, make-up and clothes while everybody kept waiting for her.

According to a source, “That day, Aishwarya came to the sets, changed into her costume, did her make-up and hair and was ready to shoot. After the entire process, which took her several hours, Vipul shot precisely for a minute before declaring pack-up. Aishwarya was aghast that Vipul had made her get ready only to shoot for a minute. She openly expressed her displeasure, to which Vipul shot back, ‘Apne sets pe sab time par aate hain aur sab time par jaate hain.’ This was a clear indication of how irritated Vipul was.”

Well Ash, as they say, learning is a life long process. Better be on time, the next time!

Sonam admits she is the 'young' face of the same Brand endorsed by Aishwarya

The Aishwarya Rai-Sonam Kapoor cold war has been written about and discussed extensively but the two actresses have never spoken about it. Now that has changed. In an interview to Koel Purie on the chat show On the Couch with Koel, The Kapoor girl talked about the Cannes fiasco, and about being the 'young' face of the international cosmetic brand.A source present during the shoot reveals, "Koel got straight to the chase and asked Sonam what she felt about the Cannes disaster. Sonam initially hesitated, then came the all- telling response: "I don't want to remember it as it is not a pleasant thing to recall."

Always diplomatic

When Koel asked her if she was disappointed about not making it to the festival, Sonam said that she looked at the visit as a part of her "professional obligation." When Koel labelled her 'diplomatic', the Saawariya girl laughed, "But I am always diplomatic, I have never been not diplomatic."

Continuing her questions on Cannes, Purie further asked the young actress to comment on her statement of being the young face of the cosmetic brand. "To this, Sonam exuberantly replied, "I say it as I see it!" and left it there. There was sarcasm in her tone, which indirectly hinted that Ash indeed had taken a back seat in the brand game, making way for the younger actress."

Throughout the interview, Sonam was at her candid best and touched various subjects from being called a motormouth, to her link-up with Ranbir and her films. "It's one of Sonam's most open interviews. The only time you see her get tense is when she's questioned about Ash and the Cannes drama."

Ash patches up with Bebo and SRK at Karan's Party!

Karan Johar, who recently turned 37, invited the who's who of Bollywood to his birthday party. Amongst the invitees were Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor who have reportedly been cold to each other for years. Though neither has ever said anything to confirm this, it has been apparent that the two aren't quite the best of friends. On Koffee With Karan, Kareena admitted that she thinks she could have done a better job of Ash's role in Dhoom 2.

It may also be recalled that Kareena and Abhishek stopped talking (despite debuting together in Refugee) after Abhishek and Bebo's sister Karisma called off their engagement.

An article in Mid-Day suggests that Bebo and Ash have finally buried the hatched and got along like a house on fire at Karan's party. Not only were they laughing together, but eventually joined each other on the dance floor!

Similarly, Karan's good friend SRK is said to have apologised to Aishwarya after feeling that he "wronged" her. Recall that Aishwarya was dropped from SRK's home production Chalte Chalte after her then-boyfriend Salman Khan barged on to the sets. The duo hasn't worked together in years, despite creating magic in Devdas. Reportedly, Ash refused Preity's role in Veer-Zaara because her and SRK were not on good terms. According to Mid-Day, Abhishek, Aishwarya, SRK and wife Gauri were seen laughing together all night. In fact, Abhi and Ash were even invited back to SRK's house Mannat to party with Hrithik-Sussanne, Kareena-Saif and Arjun and his wife Mehr.

Also, despite rumours surrounding their appearances at Cannes, Aishwayra reportedly had a brief chat with Sonam Kapoor and the two did not seem to have any bad blood between them.

Salman to Dance in front of Ash?

Though reports have speculated that Salman Khan won't be taking part at this year's International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards. After Hrs has learnt that the actor will dance at the event. However, what's most interesting is that if Salman decides to dance, he'll be doing so in front of the entire Bachchan family with Aishwarya sitting in the front row. As Amitabh Bachchan is the brand ambassador of IIFA, the entire family always attends the event.alman has so far generally stayed away from the Bachchan family due to his bitter break-up with Aishwarya. Rumours that IIFA does not pay heed to south Indian cinema and artistes are also being taken care of by the managing body as Prabhudeva is slated to join Salman in his performance.

A source says, "Salman will be there to promote his film Wanted. So he will dance in front of the packed house and of course Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan. Prabhudeva, who is the choreographer for the movie, will also dance with Salman."

The insider adds: "Salman never really had a problem with the Bachchans as he has worked with Amitabh in films and he has also been a part of the IIFA before in 2003 and 2007. Yes, things were bitter when he broke up with Ash but that's history now. He is one of the major star attractions at this year's IIFA."

After Salman and Ash fell out, she was linked to Vivek Oberoi. Then Vivek had even accused Salman of threatening him. This incident led to the big fall-out between Salman and the then rising star Vivek. Salman has since not spoken to Vivek and it is a known fact that none of the people close to Salman work with Vivek.

Barbara Mori Ignores Aishwarya

Hrithik with his ‘Kites’ co-star Barbara Mori put up in the same hotel of Aishwaya and Abhishek Bachchan at Cannes. When Ash expressed her heartfelt desire to meet Hrithik and Barbara and wish the pair for their upcoming movie, Barbara did not show any interest on meeting Ash. Hence Aishwarya exchanged greetings with her ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ co-star but missed out Barbara.

A source reveals, "Ash had heard about the Mexican actress. When she met Hrithik, she wanted to give her good wishes to Barbara too. However, when the Bachchan bahu met the Kites actress, the meeting wasn't the warmest thing the hotel experienced."

The source continues, "When Ash met Barbara, the latter just said a hello and said that she had to rush for an event."

The source further divulges why Barbara has given cold-shoulder to Ash, "Barbara hasn't had the chance to really get to know the big actors in Bollywood. Even though she knew who Ash was, she didn't come across gracious enough to take time off and exchange pleasantries. Hrithik later met Ash and explained why Barbara couldn't give her much time”.

While Ash walked the red carpet of Cannes on invitation from her Cannes friend, Hrithik-Barbara attended Cannes fest for promoting their much hyped film, ‘Kites’.

Opening day, hectic preparations are visible all day at the huge Festival Palais premises. You can see the red carpet being spruced up, the video relay of the star walk-up being readied, placards and posters being placed, gorgeous flower decorations everywhere, music pepping up people from street loudspeakers. And this year, there are thousands of brightly coloured balloons to cheer the opening film, UP.

This first day parades those who trigger the festival. There is the morning press conference of the prized opening film, telecast all day thereafter on TVs placed at vantage points. The afternoon has the jam-packed press conference with the entire jury. In the evening, a good hour-and-a-half ahead of the 6.30 pm opening, since cars cannot ply the festival road, there is the unusual sight of people walking hurriedly, dressed in glittering high fashion, clutching their flowing dresses, to reach on time. Much ahead too, hundreds line the festival theatre to cheer, greet and gawk at the famous, beautiful people who are the darlings of the red carpet.

The jury press conference this year was more animated and informal than most. Last year's conference was graced by Chairman Sean Penn, indicating that he would lead the way to looking at political films. This year's chairperson, the great French actress Isabelle Huppert set a welcome openness with her calm, clear-eyed intelligence. She said that she was not there to 'judge' films. She believed that a film comes from the heart and appeals to the heart, and it is this visceral exchange that makes a film what it is. Her feelings were echoed by all the members. When asked if she was pleased that this year there were more women jury members than men, she said that gender had no place in her way of thinking when it comes to creativity. Huppert is adored in Europe. She has been to Cannes with 17 of her films and won the best actress award twice.

Sharmila Tagore displays an elegant, confident presence at Cannes as jury member. At the press conference she spoke candidly about the difficulty of being on a jury and how each jury member would use his/her individual skills and craftsmanship to enhance an overall appraisal of a film. When asked if being the chairman of India's Censor Board would affect her analysis, she said that she was in Cannes as an individual and not as an official, and is therefore free to look at films the way she chooses to.

It takes almost an hour for the invited celebrities to walk the red carpet as they stop and pose for cameras while festival heads, Gilles Jacob, Thierry Frémaux and Veronica Cayla wait at the entrance to welcome them.

Arriving almost tail end, Aishwarya Rai accompanied by her handsome, trimmed-down husband, proved to be the apple of the media's eye. She wore a simple but striking flowing white evening dress and swirled away confidently, knowing this scene all too well. In the hall, she waved happily to all those she knew. At dinner held for a select few, she and Abhishek sat at a table for a long while, chatting with all those who came by. When asked what she felt about there being no Indian film for so many years, her candid reply was that Indian films are led by the release date shaped by its world market, and Cannes does not accept released films. This ruled out a slew of films. In other words, it's the market that dictates Indian films, not festivals.

Aishwarya is in Cannes not only on behalf of L'Oreal but also because she is being honoured on May 14 for her commitment to social and humanitarian issues, in the presence of HM Queen Noor of Jordan. The event is to announce the third edition of the International Tribunes Cinéma Vérité that will take place in Geneva (October 6-8) and Paris (October 9-10) 2009. Cinéma Vérité is a special event, dedicated to human rights with screenings, debates and commitment to action.
